Zagreus

Being the child of Persephone and Hades -- Goddess of Verdure and God of the Dead respectively -- it'd be no surprise to hear that his life growing up was a bit odd. Rather, his life growing up was more so harsh instead of odd; his mother, Persephone, fled the Underworld after Zagreus was born. Hades never told his son why she did, let alone the fact that she fled in the first place. Raising Zagreus alone meant possibly explaining the situation, which is something he preferred not to have to do. Instead, Hades had Nyx, the incarnation of the night, stand in and act as Zagreus' mother.
Zagreus having Nyx as a mother figure in his life was, in fact, good for him, but she was unfortunately the only one to actually raise him. Hades, instead, preferred to shape Zagreus as someone better than him, so he would be a worthy heir to the throne. Well, in Hades' eyes, at least. Even then, being as busy as he is, Hades left his son with the late Achilles to learn combat and send him off in a more "firm direction in life". It'd be a lie to say that Zagreus didn't have a father figure, but considering how little his father actually participated in his childhood, it'd also be a bit generous to say that Hades was much of a father figure at all.
Over time, once Zagreus was older, he'd found out the truth about his real mother. He had so many questions that needed answers, and Hades refused to give any of those answers.
Going against Hades' wishes and all of his warnings, Zagreus has made it his pursuit to battle his way out of the Underworld just to go and find his mother. No matter how many tries it takes.
